Black Water Rising – Brother Go On **** (Album: N/A)
Review: For this new band…Black Water Rising is definitely “rising” throughout their career. These guys are getting some Satellite time and it’s time to jump on the radio airwaves. “Brother Go On” has a sweet-ass rock beat to it…and the guitar in this song is phenomenal! And the guitar solo near the end…just amazing. Now, you’re thinking to yourself why I gave the band 4 stars since I just praised them…well, there is no album! It’s coming out sometime in the summer…so we’ll see what happens. BWR is on the rise…so watch out C.C.R.!!! (???)
P.O.D. – Addicted **1/2 (Album: When Angels and Serpents Dance)
Review: Well…it’s good to see P.O.D. (Payable on Death) to come out with a new CD…but I don’t know if this single makes it worth listening to. “Addicted” has the original P.O.D. sound to it…but it doesn’t make you wanna rock I guess. The only part of the song I like…is the chorus…it just tells you you’re addicted. The rest of the song…it sounds like Sonny can’t sing at all during this song…I mean, I love P.O.D., but they need to debut their new album with a better single. “When Angels and Serpents Dance” hits store shelves on 4/8/08…check it out if you want…
Submersed – Price of Fame ***** (Album: Immortal Verses)
Review: For “Price of Fame” being the second single off of Immortal Verses…Submersed’s newest single is my song of the week for New Music Thursday. Now…you would think, it’s a slow beat song and you can’t really rock out to it at all…but that’s not how I judged this one. The singers from Submersed can sing and it shows in this song. Plus there is a message in this song…dealing with the “Price of Fame”. Ever since I found this song, I cannot stop listening to it…it has everything you need and I don’t know how you cannot listen to this. “Immortal Verses” is in stores right now…it’s a must!
Filter – Soldiers of Misfortune ***1/2 (Album: Anthems for the Damned)
Review: Filter is back (again) and their new single is a message song that is a good one for NMT. “Soldiers of Misfortune” is off of their newest album Anthems for the Damned. And the message is for the soldiers…the soldiers that are across the way working for our own freedom and it’s the misfortune for them that leave the world too early. For the song…it has all right beats to it…but Filter could have worked on this a little more to make it debut more nicely. “Anthems for the Damned” hits the shelves sometime this year…check out Filter if you want!
From First To Last – Worlds Away **** (Album: From First To Last)
Review: This band from Georgia is one to hit the charts hard in the next couple years. “Worlds Away”, the newest single from ‘From First To Last’, has some uniqueness to it that I think cannot be compared to anyone else. The lead singer kinda sounds like someone young...maybe somewhat like the Coheed and Cambria singers. The beats are cool and the riffs are sweet and the chorus rocks my socks left and right. (What the hell does that mean?) FFTL will hit it hard this year, so make sure to keep your ears open. Their self-titled album hits stores this year…don’t miss it!!!
New Found Glory – Situations **** (Album: Hits)
Review: Wait a minute…New Found Glory is still alive and doing songs? Apparently so…This new one from NFG is actually off a compilation album called “Hits”. This song was “previously unreleased” so they’re now making it as a new single and putting in on the rock charts. The funny thing about this is that it kinda sounds more different then that of NFG. I remember when they were emo and all jumpy…this isn’t that. More rock beats and more riffs…which equals to the rock-fist! Their compilation album “Hits” will be hitting stores 3/18/08…check out the NFG army!
Echovalue – Dirty Little Secret ****1/2 (Album: Helloagaingodbye)
Review: This band is so invisible that I cannot find anything on them other then the name of their album…I wonder if that’s a good sign? This new one from Echovalue, “Dirty Little Secret”, has some sweet rock riffs and the lead singer knows how to sing. You would probably think to yourself while listening…if this is one of those songs that repeat over and over…not really. This is a song that I think will hit the charts pretty high in the near future. “Helloagaingodbye” hits stores soon! CHECK IT!!!
