NEW MUSIC THURSDAY ARCHIVE FOR 3/20/08:
Vayden – Anthem Of The Used **** (Album: Vayden)
Review: If you’re sitting there and trying to find some new music to listen to…Vayden is your one stop shop for new stuff. Vayden’s newest single, “Anthem of the Used”, has its ups and kinda has its downs. When I heard this song…I thought it was going to be a slow-rock song that might not be worth listening to…but when the soft stuff ended, and the heavy-hitting stuff started…it felt like I walked into a different room but with the same band playing. These guys have been around for awhile…but sometimes you can’t get your feet wet right away…it’s always got to take awhile…and like I always say, better late then never. Vayden’s self-titled album is in stores right now…and it is SO worth it! Myspace.com/vayden.
Seven Mary Three – Last Kiss ****1/2 (Album: Day & Night Driving)
Review: It has been a LONG time since Seven Mary Three came out with a new single…and it’s a good time to do it. This newest one is called “Last Kiss” and it has awesome and excellent written all over it. It’s another one of those message songs that really catches your attention when you really listen to it…and the way Jason Ross sings…unbelievable. There is really nothing else to say about this song other then, in my opinion, it could have been a little faster and maybe a little more guitar solo type stuff…but sometimes my opinion doesn’t fit well when they come out with the new single and it hits the charts so high I think to myself…”Why did I say that about this song?”. Their new album “Day & Night Driving” is available and on the shelves…how can you NOT buy this album? Myspace.com/7m3
Hurt – Loded **** (Album: Volume II)
Review: Hurt is working themselves up the rock charts and coming out with this new single…has really helped that. The second single off of Volume II is called “Loded”. (Loaded without the “a”) I don’t know if it’s because they changed in the past years…but this song really shows something to me…Hurt can play both Metal and Rock. I remember when “Rapture” and “Falls Apart” came out on the radio charts…I didn’t really like them at the time, but after hearing “10 Ton Brick” and then this song…they have changed my mind about them and it works out for the best. About this song…I like how they mix up everything…Guitars, singing, drums, etc. Classic Hurt…and it’s phenomenal. Hurt’s “Volume II” is in stores right now and if you’re looking to possibly listen to these guys more in the future…buy this album. Myspace.com/hurt
Midnight to Twelve – Slam ***** (Album: King of Spain)
Review: Sometimes when you’re looking for new stuff, do you ever stumble on a band you think is going to be big in the future? I did! The latest one from Midnight to Twelve, “Slam”, is my song of the week for New Music Thursday!!! I’m not really sure how to describe this song, but when I first heard it…it automatically caught my rock-attention. It has everything you need that makes itself an awesome rock song. The lead singer can sing, the band can wail and the song has a message. The three elements of rock…Sing, Jam, and Mesmerize. Midnight to Twelve’s newest album “King of Spain” hits stores on 6/24. You cannot deny this album…unless you don’t like them. Never judge a book by its cover though…give it a shot. Myspace.com/m212live
