Motley Crue – Saints of Los Angeles ***** (Album: Saints of Los Angeles)

Review: Tommy Lee, Mick Mars, Vince Neil and Nikki Sixx…Ladies and Gentemen…IT’S MOTLEY CRUE!!! “Saints of Los Angeles” is the newest single from the Crue and it is song of the week inside New Music Thursday!! Now you’re probably saying to yourself…”Mark, you’re just jumpin’ on the bandwagon because Crue said they’re going back on tour!” Do you not know me? First off, I hate bandwagons and bandwagon-ers…and second, I’ve seen Motley Crue live in concert twice and I have stood next to Tommy Lee while he put his arm around me and shouted “We’re rock stars Bitches!” (He was drunk!)…so all in all…Crue kicks ass!!! I didn’t even mention this song at all, why? It’s old and new Crue combined…flawless! End of story. The Crue’s newest album “Saints of Los Angeles” hits stores June 17 th…I don’t care if you’re a Crue fan or not, this is something that you need to check out. Don’t forget about CrueFest ’08!!!

Bullet For My Valentine – Waking The Demon ****1/2 (Album: Scream, Aim, Fire)

Review: With a band like Bullet for my Valentine tearing up the rock charts right now, it’s a known fact that they are well known and loved everywhere you go. Bullet’s newest single is title “Waking The Demon” and with using a pun respectively…they have awaken the demon! I don’t know if it’s this song or maybe this album…but Bullet has definitely changed their sound a little since back in the day…I am not saying it is a bad thing, but it’s something I could grow to love in the future. I like the chorus a lot in this song and of course the heaviness cannot get you down, so that’s always a plus. Sweet guitar solo too! Although Bullet has released two great singles of their new album so far, I would like to see more from them…possible a new album to compare? You never know. “Scream, Aim, Fire” is available by CD of course or online. This is something you might want to consider if you’re very interested in Bullet.

Local H – 24 Hour Break-Up Session *** (Album: 12 Angry Months)

Review: I’ll tell you this much, it’s good to hear new stuff from Local H …but I wouldn’t be too excited just yet. Their newest single is called “24 Hour Break-Up Session” and I think that this song is an actual break-up to you rockers out there. You can tell when you first listen to it that it is Local H and there is no doubt about it…but the song is a big bother and a little disgrace! It’s all repetitive and it has the same lyrics over and over…because apparently it’s a 24 Hour Break-Up Session...I don’t get it. It’s got a rock feel to it…but the vibe isn’t there and that’s what you need on about 99% of rock songs now-a-days. This is kind of a little-big disappointment to me here. Local H’s latest album “12 Angry Months” will be coming out in stores on May 13th. If this was old Local H…I would probably be looking forward to it…but as of right now…I am not excited about it all. So we’ll see.

Otep – Perfectly Flawed **** (Album: The Ascension)

Review: When you have a heavy metal that formed back in 2000 in Los Angeles and the lead singer is a girl, AND the girl’s name is the name of the band…how does that not turn you on? The latest single from Otep is titled “Prefectly Flawed” and almost close to perfectly flawless. I remember just after the Y2K era hit…maybe 2001-ish, I picked up one of Otep’s album in Target (Thank god for the bargain area!) and I was not disappointed in anyway possible. This song has some great rock-ness to it…but the only problem? It’s slower then any usual Otep song. Is that bad? No, it’s not…but it is different. I like the way this song feels in a sense…but it’s not hard rockin’ Otep…and that’s what some of us need! “The Ascension” is in stores right now…I’ll tell you this from back in the day, if this is going to be your first album from them…I highly doubt you’ll be disappointed. Give it a shot.

Five Finger Death Punch – Never Enough ****1/2 (Album: The Way of the Fist)

Review: And when you thought “The Bleeding” was going to be it for Five Finger Death Punch; think again. This newest single from FFDP is titled “Never Enough” and you can never get enough of this song. This is technically the second single off of their newest album…and is also available for download on their Myspace. (Check below for that.) You really can’t say anything wrong about this song…it’s more or less like “The Bleeding” in every sense. I like that in the break though they changed up the song a bit. How? Slowed it downed just a little bit and made it more interesting…how did they do it? Listen to the damn song and you’ll know what I mean! I am not disappointed in this song, let alone the band…but FFDP still lacks something that makes them “Top of the Charts” potential…listen to them and you might figure it out! J The album is called “The Way of the Fist” and is available right now. Hey, if I’m not disappointed with this band…I don’t see how you will be. Rock it out!
