Shinedown – Devour ***** (Album: The Sound of Madness)

Review: Ever since Shinedown announced that their new CD was coming out this summer…I’ve been more excited that a 14 year old girl getting pregnant for the first time. Oh wait… Shinedown’s newest single is called “Devour” and it is song of the week inside New Music Thursday! How is it not? I, of course, debuted their new song this past Monday because I seriously could not wait for you to hear the new song…it has Shinedown written all over it. This single is pretty damn hard and it sounds like it’s off their first album because that album definitely had some hard stuff to hit. There is really nothing else to say about this song other then that I love it and I really want the new CD right now…aren’t I really bad at being giddy about this? Shinedown’s newest album is titled “The Sound of Madness” and it’s due out in stores June 24 th. I already have this pre-ordered…that’s how good it is going to be and that’s how good Shinedown is. Word!

The Offspring – Hammerhead ****1/2 (Album: Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace)

Review: Wow…how long has it been since we heard from the Offspring? It’s been a long time, but I’ll tell you this much…they have not lost their mojo. The Offspring’s newest single from their new album is called “Hammerhead” and there is nothing wrong with this song at all. The Offspring was known for their sweet 90’s music especially for being on TRL and other music shows but the lead singer known as Dexter Holland has that unique singing voice that made Offspring who they are. If you listen to this song carefully, it’s one of those crazy video game songs for a type of sports game. (Yes, I am going to compare it to being on a video game!) I really like how it spans out throughout the song…it’s really poppy and definitely a Offspring feel to it. I’m just happy they didn’t pull away from their uniqueness because they I wouldn’t them as much anymore. Offspring’s newest album is called “Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace” and this bad boy hits stores June 17 th. I wouldn’t mind pickin’ up a copy myself, and I’m not that big of an Offspring fan either…shows how much they have changed!

Puddle of Mudd – We Don’t Have To Look Back Now ****1/2 (Album: Famous)

Review: For having their second single (“Psycho”) off their newest album “Famous” being the number one song on the rock charts for a good couple months, shows you how much Puddle of Mudd cares about doing what they do. P-Mudd’s newest single is titled “We Don’t Have To Look Back Now” and this song is definitely different from the last two you have heard off of this album. The reason why I say that is because it is slowed down a bit, and it has a nice sound to it, and you can’t go wrong with that. It’s really hard to try and find words for this song because it has everything you need for it. Wes and the boys know what they’re doing and that’s why they always on top of the rock charts. The only thing I would see from them…is me seeing them live in concert, I have yet to do that…but eventually I will! Puddle of Mudd’s newest album is titled “Famous” and it is available in stores and online. I have nothing bad to say about these guys…and that means the same for the CD!

Trapt – Who’s Going Home with You Tonight? ****1/2 (Album: Only Through The Pain)

Review: The summer for Trapt this year is going to be outstanding…why? New single out, new CD this summer and of course…CRUE FEST ’08!!! The newest single from Trapt is called “Who’s Going Home With You Tonight?” and it is definitely a good way to kick-off their new CD. It’s obviously got a classic Trapt feel to them but the good thing about this song is that they have a little hardness to them now. Chris Brown knows how to sing and the band knows how to play. I got to see these guys live in concert over at the U.P. State Fair a couple years ago and I was not disappointed. I hope that in the near future I can see them again and tell them face-to-face how good of a band they are and that some day while I’m still living that I see them sitting peacefully in the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame…that’ll be the day! Trapt’s newest album is called “Only Through The Pain” and it is due out this summer. The date for it, I do not know…but once I do know more about the album and more on Crue Fest ’08…you my friend, will be the first to know!

Cavo – Champagne ****1/2 (Album: Champagne EP)

Review: It makes me feel good when I find band and to know that they are so talented, that no one wants to pick them up right away and show who they really are…that is Cavo my friends. This St. Louis band is called Cavo and their newest single is titled “ Champagne” and that single in itself works in good ways. Once you get rollin’, you can pop the champagne and you can play this at the same time…genius! Anyways, this song has it’s up more then it’s down…come to think of it, it doesn’t have down’s to it! The beat kicks-ass and the chorus is phenomenal! I actually got a chance to talk with one of the guys of the band earlier on today, and he was psyched that I was giving these guys some spins here in the area. I know we’re a small place and can only get so far (So far my butt, we’re rockin’ 100,000 watts of power!) but I always like to do what I can do to help a band out. Cavo’s newest EP titled “ Champagne” is coming out soon…hopefully in the near summer. This is a band that in the next couple of months…will be huge! Take my work for it.

Candlebox – Stand **** (Album: Into The Sun)

Review: You know those bands that you hear for a long time and wonder they’re coming out with a new CD, let alone a new single? Candlebox is one of them. Their newest single is called “Stand” and it’s much harder Candlebox in my point of view. It’s got a good sound to it, compared to their older stuff…and I like it. Riffs, chorus, beats…it’s all good! I just wish that Candlebox was actually like this in the past. Don’t get me wrong, they’re old stuff was good, but some of it was too slow and too drawn out I guess you want to say. Sorry if I offended to the die-hard Candlebox fans, but we’re all titled to an opinion, right? It’s good but it could be better! Candlebox’s newest album is called “Into The Sun” and it is scheduled to come out this summer, probably around the June or July time…I’m not really sure. If you’re a huge fan, definitely might wanna check this out…it could good, but then again…it could be bad.
