New Music Thursdays on The Aftershock

May 15 , 2008

Special Edition of NMT this week…it’s my BIRTHDAY TODAY!

Yes, your own Mark Price is turning 22 today! (I’m getting old!)

So in honor of my birthday…all songs this week will automatically be five star rated songs! Regardless of how bad or good they are!

Judas Priest – Visions ***** (Album: Nostradamus)

Review: Rob Halford and the boys from J.P. have stepped it up a notch and made something new for us to enjoy! Judas Priest’s newest single is titled “Visions” and it is from the newly acquainted album named “Nostradamus”. Yes, you are correct in thinking that J.P. named this album after the Frenchman who was famous for writing a collection of prophecies. Why they made this album after Nostradamus? That I do not know, but I do know…this lead single from the album is quite extraordinary. Halford and his boys have come back to let us know that they can still rock and lay down all the rock tracks that they can! It’s more or less a slow side of Priest, but it really doesn’t bother me. The best thing about this album, it’s dedicated to Nostradamus and every song is about the man himself and that’s what I like about Priest doing the album for him. “Nostradamus” is in stores right now…and I’ll tell you this much, this is definitely for the hardcore Judas Priest fan, but if you were a fan back in the day and am not sure about them now…pick this up and your mind will be changed!

3 Doors Down – Train ***** (Album: 3 Doors Down)

Review: Ah yes, the second single of the long awaited album which isn’t even in stores yet! Don’t you love when that happens? The second single from 3 Doors Down’s newest album is called “Train” and this is not a train wreck at all! I don’t know if it’s the new sound from 3DD, or this is something they want to experiment with now, but the harder and faster stuff sounds a lot better then the older stuff. Now, don’t get me wrong, all of 3DD’s stuff is amazing…but sometimes, like I’ve said before, you need to change it up a little. There is really nothing wrong with this song at all…Brad knows his vocal range and the band can wail! You know, it makes you think better of them when you’ve seen them live in concert twice in your life time and both times, they’ve headlined! Amazing! If you haven’t seen them live yet…you are seriously missing out on it, it’s a phenomenal experience! They’re newest self-titled album is due out in stores next Tuesday, May 20 th! This is an album that I, myself…do NOT want to miss out on! The time has come!

Theory of a Deadman – Bad Girlfriend ***** (Album: Scars & Souvenirs)

Review: Talk about a band having their album for awhile now and now they’re on their second single…I love my job! Theory of a Deadman’s newest single is called “Bad Girlfriend” and guys, this is definitely the song you want to hear when your girlfriend has been…well, bad. This is another band that changed my perspective of them when I saw them live in concert…I actually got to see them live AND meet them in person. (Check out my MySpace and you’ll see what I am talking about!) For some reason, I really like the guitar riffs in this song, and I think T.O.A.D is doing the same thing that 3 Doors Down is doing and changing up their sound a bit to see if they can do something else with it, and I like it a lot! You know, there is really nothing wrong with changing your sound…sometimes the old stuff gets repetitive…BUT! If the old stuff puts up at the top of charts for a long time…you can’t mess with that. The newest album from Theory of a Deadman is titled “Scars & Souvenirs” and it is in stores and online right now! If “So Happy” can be #1 on the rock charts…then “Bad Girlfriend” will be #1 in three months!!!

Ashes Divide – Enemies ***** (Album: Keep Telling Myself It’s Alright)

Review: You know, I think when Billy Howerdel wanted to try out this side project…I think he was doing a good deed to us all. The newest single from Ashes Divide is titled “Enemies” and it is the second single from the new album in stores right now called “Keep Telling Myself It’s Alright”. Howerdel knows how to sell his sound and everything he has done with this side project is amazing! This song is almost perfection too! It kinda bothers me a little bit that after Ashes is done with their piece of the Projekt Revolution tour…it’s basically done…because A Perfect Circle and Tool are going back to their bands and the side projects will be over. It is kinda disappointing, but like I said…I thank Howerdel for his piece of sound and everything he has done with Ashes and obviously A Perfect Circle. The new and debut album from Ashes Divide is called “Keep Telling Myself It’s Alright” and it is in stores right now. This is the only album for now…so pick it up while you can!
