Staind – Believe ***** (Album: The Illusion of Progress)
Review: If you had to pick one word to describe this band that has been known to write and produce good music and to sell out concerts all over the U.S., it would be…extraordinary. The newest single from Staind is titled “Believe” and this song is song of the week inside New Music Thursday!!! I’ve always said this before about other bands that come out with new music…it is always good to hear something new and know that they are still going and kickin’. Now, Staind has progressed in the last couple albums. They went from heavy/hard rock in “Dysfunction” to softened down rock in “Chapter V”…I expect “The Illusion of Progress” to be a mix of both. When you listen to this new single…you know for sure that when the new album comes out in a couple months…it is something that you cannot pass up. Even though Staind has changed their music as in being a little softer…they have not changed one iota. The newly awaited album from Staind is titled “The Illusion of Progress” and it is set to hit stores on August 19th. Staind fan or not; this is something that you need to get your hands on. Trust me.

P.O.D. – Shine With Me **** (Album: When Angels and Serpents Dance)
Review: Sometimes in your life you hear a band you like from day one…but then after awhile, they tend to grow away from you and come to find out…you don’t like them anymore. P.O.D. is getting there in my book. This new single from P.O.D. is called “Shine With Me” and I think they need to work a little bit more if they want to shine with me. First off, let’s talk about this song. This new one is a hell of a lot better then “Addicted” when it first came out. My opinion…I think they should have used this song instead of the other one to promote the new album. Secondly, going back to what I said earlier about not liking P.O.D. anymore. It’s something in this band that has told me that I shouldn’t listen to them, let alone support them. I feel as though that when P.O.D. comes out with new music…it’s not THEM from back in the day. Yes, I understand that bands change with their sound and they change their band members as well…but I remember when I heard P.O.D. for the first time in high school, the song “Southtown”, “Alive”…a bunch of them that were good! Now…well…I don’t know what has happened to that sound, and I would really like to know what happened to the old P.O.D. so I can like them again. P.O.D. newest album is called “When Angels and Serpents Dance” and it is in stores right now. If you’re a huge P.O.D. fan…I respect you very much and I am not dissing you, I just want to know how I can achieve the old P.O.D. sound and put them back in my hearts.
