The festival will take place October 17-20. The official 2024 schedule and tickets are available now at freshcoastfilm.com. \nUnique to this year’s festival: \n\n\nActor and Comedian Katie Burrell anchors a lineup of more than 70 attending filmmakers from across the US and Canada. She’ll be live Saturday\, October 19\, 2024 with a humorous look at her unique career \n\n\n9 world premieres and over 50 Michigan premieres of films \n\n\nFresh Coast Film Festival’s free kickoff event -Fresh Coast Free- will be hosted at Ellwood A Mattson Lower Harbor Park on Thursday\, October 17 \n\n\nParticipants will have the opportunity to participate in 15 guided outdoor tours as part of the festival weekend pass \n\n\n  \nThis year’s kickoff event will take place on Thursday\, October 17\, at Mattson Park located in downtown Marquette. Festival director Aaron Peterson invites the Marquette community to help celebrate the resilience of the community by stating\, “It’s so good to bring Fresh Coast back and feel the support of this fun\, creative and curious community. Fresh Coast wouldn’t exist without the sponsors\, filmmakers and volunteers that share so much with us. In that spirit\, we begin every festival with our Fresh Coast Free community kickoff celebration. DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, October 19\, 2024 from 11:00-3:00 at the Marquette Regional History Center All invited! \nAdmission is regular museum admission. Open house style event. This October the Marquette Regional History Center is joining hundreds of organizations around the world to celebrate International Archaeology Day. For the 12th year\, our fair will provide a look at archaeology in our region and world-wide. Hands-on learning for all ages. Multiple booths both indoors and outdoors feature various displays and activities.\nThis year\, we have a special presentation at 11:30: “Cosa: Excavations of a ‘Typical’ Latin Colony in Italy” Archaeologist Melissa Ludke will present on the excavation of a Roman bath house. As an archaeological park and small town in Italy\, Cosa has endured a long history of occupation from 273 BCE under the Romans to a small settlement during the Medieval period\, and beyond. Join us at 11:30 to learn about the historical development of a colony that has been excavated since 1948. Ludke’s talk will touch on the history of the site\, the archaeological exploration of various areas in the town\, and ongoing excavations of a Roman bath by Florida State University.. Working at this site since 2016\, Ludke is currently participating in new investigations of a house and potential marketplace. She will present on exciting objects discovered at the site\, including ancient coinage\, which is one of her research specialties.\nJoin the celebration of archaeology and the thrill of discovery!
