SUMMARY:The Marquette Regional History Center presents the Film Premiere: My Sister
DESCRIPTION:The Marquette Regional History Center presents the Film Premiere: My Sister\nby NMU Alumni Dan Aho\nWednesday\, March 19\, 6:30 p.m.\nNegaunee’s Dan Aho\, an NMU Alumni\, has worked as an actor in Chicago and L.A.\, where he delved into the world of film writing and producing. His latest short film was shot in Marquette County.\n“The premise for My Sister is loosely inspired by real events. The script was in production\, in Los Angeles\, on three different occasions\, with three different sets of actresses. For various reasons it never made it in front of the camera\, and it wasn’t picked up again until I relocated back to the Midwest and had eyes to film it in Michigan\, specifically in the U.P. The script was re-written. I wanted to use the setting as part of the theme of the story. ‘My Sister’ was shot entirely in the Upper Peninsula. From the shores of Lake Superior\, the highway of US-41\, and various spots in Negaunee. The script was re-written to use the setting and its nature to enhance the theme which became part of the story itself.”\nJoin us for the premiere and meet the local cast\, Jessica “Red” Bays and Han Numinen\, alongside writer/director Aho for a discussion afterwards. Proceeds from this event will help the film move onto the next level as it enters film festivals and support the Marquette Regional History Center. $20 general admission\, $10 student tickets\, on sale now at www.marquettehistory.org or in person. Call 906.226.3571 for more information. Students must come in person to purchase their discounted ticket\, which will include a free visit to the galleries!
