DESCRIPTION:August abounds with outdoor summer fun \nThe DNR offers a variety of ways to enjoy Michigan’s natural and cultural resources next month\, so get ready to soak up some summer fun! Here’s just a sampling – get the full list at Michigan.gov/DNRCalendar. \nFree ORV Weekend \n  \nResidents and out-of-state visitors legally can ride Michigan’s 4\,000 miles of off-road vehicle trails and routes and the state’s six scramble areas on two back-to-back days (Aug. 16-17) without an ORV license or trail permit. The entrance fee at Holly Oaks ORV Park in Oakland County also will be waived this year. Our Free ORV Weekend is a great time to see\, experience and test out the state’s off-road trails (check out all the places you can ride!)\, but remember that all other ORV rules and laws still apply\, and you must supply your own ORV. \n

SUMMARY:Rockland - 42nd Annual Old Victoria Craft Fair
DESCRIPTION:42nd Annual Old Victoria Craft Fair \nVisit the Old Victoria Historical Site this Sunday\, August 17th to experience a piece of history at the 42nd Annual Craft Fair. The free event will take place on the grounds of the historic copper mining village just outside of Rockland from 10 am to 5 pm. \nThree of the four restored cabins and the sauna will be open for self-guided tours free of charge for the event. As you step into the hand-hewn log cabins\, you can see how the miners and their families lived. Tour guides will be available to share the history of the Victoria Copper Mine and the people that braved the wilderness to live and work there. \nVisitors can browse a wide variety of arts\, crafts\, and food products from talented local artisans on the rolling lawn of the heritage site. At 1:30 pm EST\, old-fashioned kids games will take place on the upper lawn\, including sack races\, water relays and more. Children who participate always have loads of fun earning small treats with the friendly competitions\, and the games are a blast for adults to watch as well. \n  \nAnd you won’t want to miss trying one of Old Victoria’s famous cinnamon rolls!  Volunteers make and bake the gooey rolls from scratch on site in the old-fashioned woodstove. Dripping with homemade icing\, these are a delightful treat that bring people from hours away year after year to enjoy. \nOld Victoria is located 4 miles outside of Rockland Michigan on Victoria Dam Road. If you are interested in being a vendor at this year’s show\, please call 906-281-7412\, email oldvictoria1899@gmail.com\, or find Old Victoria on Facebook.
