DESCRIPTION:UP Rainbow Pride (UPRP) is excited about hosting two events in April aimed at building community and offering\na safe\, affirming\, and social space for the LGBTQIA+ community in Marquette County and beyond. The aim of\nthese events is to create an all-ages space where LGBTQIA community members and allies can celebrate\nfellowship and fabulousness.\nUPRP will also be hosting a Community Potluck on Saturday\, April 26th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Lost Creek\nKitchen in Marquette. LGBTQIA and Allied community members of all ages are welcome to join in on an evening\nof food\, activities\, and social connection. Those attending are welcomed to bring a dish to share\, but this is a free\nevent and we welcome anyone who wants to stop by. Those interested in making a dish to share can comment\nin the Facebook event to ensure there is a variety of food. UPRP will have cards available at the event to write\nout ingredients to make this a safer event for those with food allergies.\nAnyone who plans on attending can RSVP and learn more at UPRP’s website or on our Facebook page. SUMMARY:Chassell - Let's Eat Community Meal
DESCRIPTION:Let’s Eat Free Community Meal from 4:00pm to 5:30pm\n\nIt’s provided and prepared by the Michigan Tech unit of Circle K and served with the help of the Sigma Rho fraternity of Chassell. Additional funding was also provided by DP Construction which is also based in Chassell. Our thanks go out to all of these folks. The menu Circle K is planning is chicken and cheese quesadillas with corn and apples as well as a dessert. Enjoy!\n \nFor this meal and all Let’s Eat Community Meals it’ll be good to keep in mind that they were originally started to provide a tasty and healthy meal but also an opportunity for folks from the same location to be able to chat with each other and get to know each other over the meal. Holy Trinity’s dining/meeting area lends itself particularly well for that.\n \nNext month’s Let’s Eat Community Meal will be on April 27 and also at Holy Trinity and sponsored and run by the Let’s Eat Community Meals organization itself. (Please note that the general schedule currently mistakenly states April 20. This is the date for Easter this year and there will be other meals on that day offered by Little Brothers\, for example.)

SUMMARY:NCTA Group Hike
DESCRIPTION:Come hike with us along the scenic shore of Lake Superior\, through beautiful mixed pine forests\, to Harlow Lake and then back along the Harlow Creek past Cabin #6. If we’re lucky\, we might even spot some early spring wildflowers! \nOur hike will be led by Dennis Fattaleh\, an experienced group hike leader. We’re excited and grateful for Dennis’s efforts to help revive group hikes for our Marquette Area Chapter. \nThis loop hike will cover approximately 4.5 miles of easy terrain on a mostly snow-free trail. Expect a few wet spots\, so be sure to wear appropriate footwear. Plan for 2-3 hours of hiking time. Don’t forget to bring water and a snack! \nWe’ll meet on Saturday\, May 3\, at 10:00 AM at the Little Presque Isle parking lot. \nThis event is limited to 20 participants\, and advance registration is required. DESCRIPTION:-Silver Creek Church and Silver Creek Thrift are partnering with Feeding America West Michigan to host a Mobile Food Pantry. Taking place on Thursday\, May 8. Food distribution will begin at 10:00am and continue while supplies last or until 11:30am. Food will be available for approximately 550 families. Due to changes with Feeding America West Michigan\, proxy pickup will be limited. This will be a drive-thru event with directions given by parking lot attendants. Guests are asked to remain in their cars and have adequate space prepared in their trunk or back seat in advance to allow the distribution team to place food boxes directly in the vehicle. Silver Creek Church and Silver Creek Thrift are located at 219 Silver Creek Road in Harvey. Businesses or organizations that are interested in supporting these monthly mobile food pantries are encouraged to call 906.249.1715 for more information.
