Thank you to our community for showing up and supporting our library in such a big way! We love offering so many events for you to enjoy\, and we have SO many more planned throughout July and August. The next event in this series is on Wednesday\, July 15th at 5:30pm\, and will feature Michelle Briggs\, Chief Park Ranger who will present an Illustrated History of the Soo Locks alongside information about the Lock that is currently being built! Michelle Briggs will be back on Thursday\, July 16th at 2pm to invite children to pretend they are aboard a freighter traveling from Marquette hauling iron ore. Throughout the course of the presentation children will learn about various jobs on board their “ship”\, the importance of cargo\, and how the US Army Corps of Engineers and Coast Guard work together to keep it all moving. Ages 8+.  \nOn Tuesday\, July 21st at 11am\, families are invited to join us for an interactive puppet show with Alex Thomas and Friends. This show brings the prehistoric world roaring to life as adorable baby dinosaur puppets crack out of their eggs during the live performance.  \nOn Wednesday\, July 22nd at 5:30pm\, author Sara Maurer will be here at the library for a presentation and book signing\, featuring her debut novel\, A Good Animal.  \nOn Friday\, July 24th at 1pm\, join us for a performance from the Bright Star Theatre: Dino Academy where realistic dinosaur puppets will take the audience on an interactive wildlife encounter hosted by the esteemed Dr. Sarah Tops. \nOn Thursday\, July 30th at 5:30pm\, Kim Nowack\, Bridge Director for the Mackinac Bridge Authority will present on the history of transportation in the Straits area and the building of the Mackinac Bridge.  \nThese are just some of the events happening throughout the rest of the summer\, so please visit the library or check out ishpeminglibrary.info for more information about all the events being offered. We also want to encourage kids and adults to keep reading this summer! Reading logs and book reviews are due by Saturday\, August 8th to be entered for prizes! SUMMARY:Summer Reading Events Continue at the Ishpeming Carnegie Public Library
DESCRIPTION:The Ishpeming Carnegie Public Library’s (ICPL) Summer Reading Program is in full swing! We have been busy offering events for all ages and even hit record-breaking attendance at our programs in June! 2\,203 people attended programs in June\, nearly surpassing our ENTIRE program attendance for last summer in a single month. Thank you to our community for showing up and supporting our library in such a big way! We love offering so many events for you to enjoy\, and we have SO many more planned throughout July and August. All events are free and open to the public. \nEvents for adults this year have been focusing on local/Michigan history. Thank you to our community for making our Summer Reading Program so successful!  \n

SUMMARY:Thunderstruck: A Classic Rock Tribute
DESCRIPTION:On Friday\, July 24 and Saturday\, July 25 at 7:30 PM\, Thunderstruck: A Classic Rock Tribute will be presented at Linden Creek Farm — a special two-night candlelit concert event featuring violinist Chris Vuk (Blue Violin). \n  \nAfter a sold out performance at Houghton’s Rozsa Center\, Blue Violin returns to the Keweenaw for an intimate encore performance at The Barn at Linden Creek Farm. The show transforms legendary rock anthems into cinematic soundscapes through live looping\, soaring violin solos\, atmospheric lighting\, and immersive staging. \n  \nThe program features reimagined music by artists including Queen\, AC/DC\, Led Zeppelin\, Bon Jovi\, The Eagles\, Ozzy Osbourne\, and Lynyrd Skynyrd\, with each arrangement built live on stage using layered violin loops and ambient textures. \n  \nBlue Violin is an internationally touring artist who has performed at venues including Carnegie Hall and the Sydney Opera House\, with recent tours spanning the U.S.\, Europe\, Asia\, and Australia. Often described as “Trans-Siberian Orchestra meets Lindsey Stirling\,” his performances blend classical virtuosity with the energy of a rock concert. \n  \nThe L’Anse performances are designed as intimate\, limited-seating events inside the rustic setting of Linden Creek Farm. \n  \nTickets and additional information can be found here: https://blue-violin.com/thunderstruck-lanse/
