Find Your Joy at the Ishpeming Carnegie Public Library During National Library Week, April 19–25, 2026

April 19April 25

What brings you joy? Whether it’s cozying up with a new story, learning a new skill, or gathering with community, you can find your joy at the Ishpeming Carnegie Public Library (ICPL). First celebrated in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association.

National Library Week, April 19–25, 2026, is a time to celebrate the many ways libraries bring people together, spark imagination, and support lifelong learning. From books and digital resources to job assistance and creative programming, libraries are essential to thriving communities.

At the Ishpeming Carnegie Public Library, we invite everyone to join the celebration! Whether you’re a longtime patron, a new neighbor, or haven’t visited in a while, now is the perfect time to explore all the library has to offer. Library cards for the Ishpeming Carnegie Public Library are available for free to residents living within the City of Ishpeming and surrounding townships including: Champion, Ely, Humboldt, Ishpeming, and Tilden townships. Also, if you are a Negaunee resident with a Negaunee Library Card, you are eligible to sign up for an Ishpeming card as well.

Whatever brings you joy, the library has something for everyone. During National Library Week, we have a lineup of several programs! Join us on Tuesday, April 21st at 11am for Tot Tuesday Storytime. This is a time for preschoolers to gather together for a story, craft, and playtime. On Wednesday, April 22nd at 4pm Italian lessons will take place at the library. Later that day at 6pm, you can join us for our Adult Horror Book Club to discuss the “House of Monstrous Women” by Daphne Fama. Our Friends of the Library are hosting a Used Book Sale on Friday, April 24th and Saturday, April 25th from 10am-4pm. You don’t want to miss this chance to shop used books at great prices. On Friday, April 24th from 10am-12pm, our Homeschool Hangout group will meet. New homeschooling families are always welcome to join us. On Saturday, April 25th at 12pm-1:30pm, Silent Book Club will take place at Velodrome Coffee in Ishpeming. This is a time for bookworms to gather together and read silently followed by time to socialize.

Nicole Johnson, Librarian at the Ishpeming Carnegie Public Library states: “National Library Week is all about showcasing how we are there for our community and to encourage them to come in and check out everything that we have going on!”
