Negaunee Twp Fire/Search & Rescue Training
The Iron Ore Heritage Recreation Authority (IOHRA) has been notified that the Negaunee Township Fire/Search & Rescue Department will conduct a training exercise on the Iron Ore Heritage Trail from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 15.
The training will take place along the trail segment between the County Road 492/M-35 intersection and the Kalkaska Drive entrance to the Smith Construction quarry.
The exercise will simulate the rescue and extraction of an injured trail user from a remote section of the Iron Ore Heritage Trail. As part of the department’s annual training program, the exercise is designed to provide responders with hands-on experience in trail-based emergency operations.
Residents and trail users may observe emergency personnel, vehicles, and rescue equipment in the area during the training. While the exercise will resemble a live emergency response, it will be conducted under controlled conditions and is strictly for training purposes.
Questions regarding the training exercise may be directed to Bob Hendrickson, Trail Administrator for the Iron Ore Heritage Trail, or the Negaunee Township Fire Department.
