“1875: Peter White at St Paul’s” 150th Anniversary Celebration Event

September 21 @ 4:00 pm

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church of Marquette will host “1875: Peter White at St. Paul’s” on Sunday September 21, 2025 at 4:00 pm at the church at 201 East Ridge Street in Marquette.  The event is a celebration of the history of St. Paul’s during the 150th anniversary of our sanctuary building.  Jim Koski of Q107 radio and the Marquette Historical Society will host the event which features an appearance by “Peter White” himself to help narrate and explain his family’s history with St. Paul’s.

Jim Koski will present pictures of Marquette in 1875 and photos of St. Paul’s when the sanctuary was new.  He will also highlight photos of the church as it has evolved over the last 150 years. Chip Truscon will portray Peter White to help explain White’s history in the community and at St. Paul’s.  Music will be provided by Jan Brodersen,  and a string trio featuring Janis Peterson,  Inga Banitt, andWendy Larson.  The event will conclude with a reception and Q&A session in the Morgan White Memorial chapel, which contains the “Resurrection” window commissioned by Peter White from Tiffany of New York.

“It’s so wonderful to be able to shake hands with our 150 year old history by welcoming Jim Koski’s historic knowledge and Chip Truscon who will “play” Peter White back at St. Paul’s church. He and Jim Koski are well practiced in bringing our history to life, just as our congregation looks forward to setting the foundation for the next 150 years,”  noted Jim Edwards, member of St. Paul’s congregation and coordinator of the 1875 Peter White at St. Paul’s event.

Admission will be free, and donations will be accepted.  All donations will benefit St. Paul’s Building Restoration fund as the church seeks to match the grant it received from the National Fund for Sacred Places.   The NFSP grant will help St. Paul’s address urgent structural needs, ensuring its continued role as a gathering place for worship, outreach, and community activities into the next 150 years.
