Freedom Monument Installed At Harlow Park

The Freedom Monument podiums have been installed at Harlow Park (corner of W Washington St and N 7th St) within the Veterans Memorial Mall. A formal dedication ceremony will take place on July 4, 2026 at 11:00am as a part of the American Legion Post 44 Independence Day event. In addition to their commemorative function, the granite podiums will serve as a platform for ongoing education and civic engagement, offering space for community groups and classrooms. The project was made possible by the Katers family and supported by Fassbender Swanson Hansen Funeral Home, Sunburst Memorials, and the American Legion Post 44. The podiums were inspired by Ron Katers, who was committed to helping others understand their history, culture, and civic opportunities.
