LWV Public Candidate Forums in July

Candidates running in the August 4th Primary Election for the Marquette County Commission and the 96th District Court Judge will participate in two Public Candidate Forums conducted by the League of Women Voters of Marquette County on July 8-9.

Please publish the following announcement and help us publicize the opportunity for voters to contribute questions, attend or watch the video of the forum. Also, if someone from your organization attends, either in person or via live stream, please consider reporting on the forum and the availability of video.

Two Public Candidate Forums will be held for candidates running in the Aug. 4th Primary Election for positions as Marquette County Commissioner and 96th District Court Judge. The League of Women Voters of Marquette County will moderate the Forums.

 

On Wednesday, July 8th, a Forum will be held for the candidates for Marquette County Commission District 1 (Cody Mayer and Karl Numinen) and District 3 (Fred Benzie, Randy Ritari and Jenna Smith). This Forum will be held in the Marquette Charter Township Community Center, 1000 Commerce Dr., Marquette. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the Forum begins at 6:00 p.m.

 

On Thursday, July 9th, a Forum will be held for the three candidates for 96th District (Marquette County) Court Judge: Patrick Crowley, William Nordeen and Derek Swajanen. This Forum will be held in Marquette’s City Commission Chambers, 300 W. Baraga Ave. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. The Forum begins at 6:00 p.m.

 

The audience may meet and speak with the candidates after the Forum. Both Forums will be live streamed to the LWVMC YouTube Channel and recorded for later viewing.

 

Each candidate will answer the same questions submitted by constituents. Questions may be combined or edited for clarity and pertinence. What do you want to know about the candidates vying to become County Commissioner or District Court Judge? Email your questions to lwvmqtco@gmail.com by Monday, July 6th or you can submit your question as a member of the audience.
