Marquette DDA to Host Public Open House on Downtown Wayfinding and Signage System
August 12 @ 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm
The Marquette Downtown Development Authority (DDA) will host a Public Open House on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. to solicit community feedback on the development of a comprehensive downtown wayfinding and signage system. The event will take place at the Marquette Commons, 112 S. Third St. and is open to all members of the public.
The DDA has engaged Corbin Design (www.corbindesign.com), a nationally recognized leader in wayfinding planning and design, to create a system that will enhance navigation throughout the downtown district. Wayfinding-defined by Corbin Design as “direction for people in motion”-includes both physical and digital tools to assist residents and visitors in locating destinations and experiencing all the community has to offer.
“As Downtown Marquette continues to grow, effective wayfinding will play a crucial role in ensuring that visitors and residents can easily navigate the area by car, bicycle, or on foot,” said Tara Laase-McKinney, Marquette DDA Executive Director. “A cohesive and intuitive signage system will not only improve the flow of movement but also highlight our vibrant dining, shopping, cultural, and entertainment options.”
Attendees will have the opportunity to share feedback on existing signage, identify navigational challenges, and suggest enhancements. This input will directly inform the design process, ensuring the final system reflects the needs and character of the Marquette community.
