Silver Creek Church Celebrates 20 Years of Providing Backpacks

HARVEY, MI – Silver Creek Church will host its annual Backpack SOS community outreach on Saturday, August 15, from 9:00-11:00 AM at Silver Creek Church in Harvey.

This year marks the 20th year Silver Creek Church has provided backpacks and school supplies to local children. The drive-thru event is open to children Pre-K through 12th grade. Children do not need to be present, and no pre-registration is required for this drive-thru event.

Each child will receive a backpack, age-appropriate school supplies, a pair of socks, a hygiene kit, and a voucher for three free outfits from Silver Creek Thrift.

Families will also receive a variety of food, beverages, and household items generously provided by Convoy of Hope, while supplies last.

Teen girls will receive a special gift, made possible through the generous support of the Zonta Club of Marquette.

Silver Creek Church is grateful for the many partners who help make this outreach possible, including Convoy of Hope, Delta Dental Foundation, Harbor Rotary, Midway Rentals, Silver Creek Thrift, Tadych’s, and the Walmart Foundation.

What began 20 years ago as an effort to provide backpacks and school supplies to local children continues today as Backpack SOS, a community outreach designed to help families prepare for a new school year with dignity and care.
