The Finlandia Art Gallery and Finlandia Foundation National (FFN) are pleased to present Northern Tier, an exhibition of oil paintings by Finnish American artist Eric Aho. The exhibit will be on display from September 18 to November 13, 2025, at the Finlandia Art Gallery, located in the Finnish American Heritage Center in Hancock.  A reception for the artist will take place on Thursday, October 9, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., with an artist talk beginning at 7:20 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public. Superior Shipwrecks Exhibit Opens at Beaumier Center

The Beaumier U.P. Heritage Center at Northern Michigan University will open a new exhibition titled “Gales of November: Shipwrecks on Lake Superior” at noon on Friday, Sept. 19, in its gallery in Gries Hall. From the earliest days of sailing vessels on Lake Superior, November has taken its toll on the maritime trade. Sand Point Road to Close Oct. 2-8 for Culvert Replacement at Pictured Rocks

 MUNISING, Mich.- Sand Point Road will be temporarily closed to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic east of the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore boundary from approximately Oct. 2 through Oct. 8, 2025, for a culvert replacement project. The closure may extend through Oct. 10 if additional time is needed to complete the work. The Sand Point Marsh Trail, Sand Point Beach, and Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore Headquarters will be inaccessible via Sand Point Road during this time. This closure will not impact access to Munising Memorial Hospital, the Munising Falls Visitor Center, or private residences on Sand Point Road. See map for exact

We are also accepting winter wear and monetary donations at the Angel Mission Free Store, 433 5th St, Calumet, MI 49913. We will offer two days for our initial winter-wear giveaway. The first is for children notified by the schools to participate in the program. Those children had opportunity to pre-register for the program and will pick up items at The Salvation Army in Hancock on Friday, October 24, 4:00-8:00, pre-registration is required. Operation Winter Wear

Silver Creek Church 219 Silver Creek Rd, Marquette

Operation Winter Wear, an outreach that provides new and like-new adult and child-sized coats to individuals in need, is taking place October 15 – 17. Hosted by Silver Creek Church and Silver Creek Thrift, distribution will be by appointment only on Wednesday, October 15 and Thursday, October 16. Walk-ins are welcome on Friday, October 17 between noon and 3:00PM. Appointments can be made by calling 906.249.1715 between 9:00AM and 5:00PM Monday – Thursday. The Negaunee DDA is announcing their first ever Witches Night Out event to be held in Downtown Negaunee on Saturday, November 15th, from 4 pm to 8 pm. This inaugural event spurred from interested local businesses asking, “why there wasn’t a ladies’ night like other communities have”?
