Superior Shipwrecks Exhibit Opens at Beaumier Center

The Beaumier U.P. Heritage Center at Northern Michigan University will open a new exhibition titled “Gales of November: Shipwrecks on Lake Superior” at noon on Friday, Sept. 19, in its gallery in Gries Hall. From the earliest days of sailing vessels on Lake Superior, November has taken its toll on the maritime trade. PWPL Presents: Food for Fines

November 3-29.  Peter White Public Library is once again partnering with the TV6 Canathon to help feed our hungry neighbors. From November 3 – 29, the library will serve as a collection point for food items to help stock our local food pantries. As an added incentive to donate, the library is offering Food for Fines, a program that allows library users to resolve overdue fines with the donation of non-perishable food items. For each non-perishable food item brought to the library’s circulation desk, $1.00 in overdue library fines will be forgiven. There is no limit to the dollar amount

Marquette To Host Delegation to from Kajaani, Finland – November 7-13, 2025

The Marquette Area Sister Cities Partnership in association with the City of Marquette will be hosting a delegation of 8 from Kajaani, Finland, arriving Friday, November 7 and departing Thursday, November 13. The Sister City program with Kajaani, Finland was started in 1997. The program focuses on cultural understanding, international friendship, and sharing of ideas. There will be a presentation by the Kajaani delegation and the Marquette Area Sister City Partnership (MASCP) on Saturday, November 8 from 2-4pm in the Peter White Library Community Room, 217 N Front St. in Marquette. The hike begins at the paved Sugarloaf parking lot on CR550 and proceeds to the top of Sugarloaf Mountain with its spectacular vistas of Lake Superior and the surrounding area. From the summit, the hike will descend along the NCT spur on the back side of Sugarloaf until it connects with the main NCT trail. International Musical Group “Floriani”

Internationally known musical group, Floriani, to perform in Marquette St. Peter Cathedral concert slated for Saturday, Nov. 15   Renowned choral group Floriani will be at St. Peter Cathedral in Marquette on Nov. 15 for a 7 p.m. concert. Admission is free. Freewill offerings will be accepted. Floriani is a men’s vocal quartet ensemble dedicated to performing and reviving sacred music.
