  • ‘American Revolution’ Preview and Panel Discussion Nov. 5

      WNMU-TV will host a preview screening and panel discussion related to “The American Revolution,” a new Ken Burns six-part, 12-hour documentary series that explores the country’s founding struggle and its eight-year War for Independence. The screening is open to the public and takes place at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, in the Northern Center Ballrooms on Northern Michigan University’s campus.  “This opportunity to learn about the founding of the United States’ democracy is brought to you as part of NMU’s commitment to expand opportunities for civic learning and community engagement by staff, faculty and students,” said Tammy Wixtrom Johnson

    The Lake Linden-Hubbell Public School will hold their annual Fall Parent/Teacher Conferences on Thursday, November 6, 2025. All students will be dismissed at 11:44 am. Hot lunch will not be served, but breakfast will be. Conferences for students in grades 6-12 are from 12:30 – 3:30 pm. and from 4:30 – 6:30 pm. Report cards may be picked up in the principal’s office located on the second floor of the high school. No appointment is needed for conferences for students in grades 6-12. Elementary conferences are made by appointment.

  • NMU Students to Lead French Camp Nov. 6th and 11th

    Students in Northern Michigan University’s French program will lead another “French Camp for Younger Learners” Nov. 6th and 11th at Sandy Knoll Elementary School in Marquette. This outreach initiative demonstrates an ongoing commitment to academic service learning, which is a component of every course in the French program. The camp promotes communication skills and cultural appreciation, with topics ranging from cuisine to fine arts. Service learning gives NMU students the opportunity to apply classroom learning in a meaningful way, transforming abstract knowledge into real-world communication skills, and connecting them more deeply to the language and culture, said Professor Nell Kupper.

Youth of all ages who are interested in Pokémon card trading and gaming are invited to our new monthly Pokémon Trading & Gaming Sessions. Kids who attend will be able to trade & play the card game with other kids. Kids will also be able to spend time with other Pokémon fans, chatting about Pokémon and looking through their cards.
