    Keweenaw National Historical Park is excited to welcome visitors to celebrate National Park Week from Saturday, Aug. 22 through Sunday, Aug. 30. Events and activities will incorporate the 2026 National Park Week theme of “Celebrate America’s Story,” highlighting the 250th anniversary of American independence and recognizing our shared American heritage of national parks..   Across the country, Tuesday, Aug. 25 is an entrance fee-free day for U.S. residents in honor of the National Park Service’s 110th birthday.   • Keweenaw National Historical Park host a Free Program “Exploring Public History”

    Keweenaw National Historical Park will host a free program exploring how public history can broaden our understanding of what constituted an industrial landscape on Aug. 22 at 1 p.m. at its visitor center. The program, “Keweenaw Histories: Expanding Our Understanding of the Industrial Landscape Through Public History,” highlights research from Keweenaw Histories, an ongoing digital public history initiative hosted by the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire. Dr. Daniel Wallace will reflect on his American Conservation Experience–Mellon Humanities Fellowship and the development of the Keweenaw Histories project.   • Celebrate the Unveiling of the Big Annie Statue

    The community is invited to a historic celebration on August 22nd, when the Big Annie statue will be officially unveiled and dedicated in downtown Calumet. The free, family-friendly event will take place from 3:00 to 5:30 p.m. and will celebrate the life and legacy of Anna Klobuchar Clemec, affectionately known as “Big Annie.” The celebration will begin at 3:00 p.m. with a parade down 5th Street, followed by the dedication ceremony at Calumet Greenspace Park. Community members can also enjoy live music, free ice cream, and face painting. The celebration will mark the unveiling and dedication of a new statue

  • Share your love of the North Country Trail!

    Can you help at NMU’s Fall Fest on Monday, August 24th? We’re excited that our Marquette Area Chapter will be present at the event and we’re looking for volunteers to assist at our table. We will be greeting students and sharing information about upcoming events and volunteer opportunities on the trail.   Volunteer shifts are available from 11 am to 1 pm or from 1 pm to 3 pm, but we’re flexible, so let us know your availability.
