There will be short stories accompanied by soft voices and sounds, sensory-friendly movements, and a fidget-friendly area. April 13 and 20 will incorporate special programs.     Mondays 1-3 p.m.  The Negaunee Public Library is hosting a homeschool hangout from 1-3 p.m. Mondays. The program is for all youth and their families who do not attend traditional school. Homeschool students, online students through programs such as Link Learning, and others are welcome to participate. Attendees will meet other youth and families and enjoy an activity. This program is free, and designed for homeschool and nontraditionally schooling families.   • Equal Pay for Women Gathering

    Michigan Technological University Houghton

    On Tuesday, March 24, the League of Women Voters of the Copper Country will emphasize the call for Equal Pay for Women by distributing cookies, oranges, and information on the Michigan Tech campus. League members and volunteers will wear red and gather at the Husky statue from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  Red symbolizes that women and people of color are “in the red” when it comes to equal pay for equal work. This day marks the number of extra days since January 1st that women must work, on average, to earn what a man makes in one year. A woman must work at least 14

    Frank Wardynski, MSU Extension Educator, will be conducting a Cow Calf Meeting in Baraga at the Baraga Lakeside Inn on Tuesday, March 24 at 6:00 pm EST MSU Extension’s winter cow-calf meetings provide a forum for producers to stay informed on management, markets, and emerging issues that can impact profitability and long-term operational success. Merck Animal Health will be sponsoring the meetings, providing pizza and soft drinks. Topics will include the beef market outlook, protecting cattle prices with the Livestock Risk Protection program, the Effects of Maternal Bovine Appeasing Substance, and genetic selection for carcass characteristics.
