    Copper Country Community Band Announces Summer Concert Series The Copper Country Community Band is proud to present a series of five summer concerts across the Keweenaw. Under the direction of Amy Johnson and Micah Erickson, this all-volunteer group of approximately 35 musicians from across the Copper Country will bring audiences a lively mix of marches, classic concert band repertoire, and popular medleys. All concerts begin at 7:00 p.m. – All concerts are free to attend. Donations are gratefully accepted at the other concerts, with the concert on Thursday, August 28 specifically going towards the Houghton County Road Commission, to raise funds

  • Ishpeming Carnegie Public Library Summer Events: Gemini Moon

    Tuesday, August 19th at 4pm, the Gemini Moon band will be at the library to perform! Gemini Moon performs guitar-driven originals with male/female lead vocals and harmonies, as well as fresh interpretations of classic and modern covers. The group is influenced by 90s alternative and 60s/70s classic rock, as well as blues, pop, and folk from all eras. The band’s original songs feature themes of love, hope, and courage among others. Gemini Moon blend these influences together into a playful, loving, and family-friendly musical space with balanced tones and mindful volume.

Washington St. into a festive Night Market where you will find over 60 vendors gathered to exhibit their locally grown, collected, and crafted products.     Wednesday, August 20th at 5:30pm, international bestselling author Sue Harrison will be at the library for a presentation and discussion of her historical novel, The Midwife’s Touch. Snowbound Books will also be here to sell copies of Harrison’s books. The Midwife’s Touch is the August selection for the Adult Book Club that meets at ICPL.

  • Powerful Tools for Caregivers Workshop

    Powerful Tools for Caregivers, a six-week workshop, designed for the non-professional, informal family caregiver, will be held on Thursdays, August 21 – September 25th, 1:00 – 2:30 pm at the Negaunee Senior Center, 410 Jackson Street, Negaunee. Research studies find high rates of depression and anxiety among caregivers and increased vulnerability to health problems. Caregivers frequently cite restriction of personal activities and social life as problems. In addition, caregivers often feel a lack of control over events and a sense of powerlessness which can have a significant negative impact on their physical and emotional health.     Music on Third will be making its return to the Third Street Corridor this month, and will be bringing some needed changes to help make it a safer and more enjoyable event for everyone. The next Music on Third of 2025 is scheduled for Thursday, August 21 from 6 – 9 pm. Streets will be closed beginning at 5:30 pm, with musicians located between Ridge St. and Prospect St. performing from 6 – 8 pm and musicians between Prospect St. and Kaye Ave. performing from 7 – 9 pm.
