    The Keweenaw Lions Club is now selling tickets for their Lake Superior Cruise fundraiser aboard the Isle Royale Queen IV.  Limited tickets are $30 each and are already selling quickly.  Cruise will depart from the Isle Royale Queen Dock in Copper Harbor, Sunday September 21.  The two hour tour will begin boarding at 1:30pm with a 2:00pm departure.  Destination is weather dependent.  Snacks, coffee and soft drinks will be served on board, BYOB.  For tickets, call Marty at (906) 281-5557.  All proceeds will go toward local charities.   If you are unable to make the voyage but would like to make

  • ‘Murmurations’ Exhibit at NMU’s DeVos Art Museum

    Northern Michigan University’s DeVos Art Museum is hosting an exhibition titled “Murmurations” through Nov. 1, with related events throughout September. The exhibit features a diverse collection of works by 30 artists, who all participated in Nido (Italian for “nest”), an artist residency located in the small town of Monte Castello di Vibio, nestled within the central hills of Italy. This residency program, facilitated by the Poor Farm Project in Little Wolf, Wis., allowed artists to explore the social and historical landscape, land resources, and embedded narratives of Monte Castello di Vibio and the surrounding region.   • NMU Presents ‘Into the Woods’ Musical

    Northern Michigan University Theatre and Dance will present Into the Woods, a fantasy musical by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine, Sept 25-27 and Oct 2-4. This “darkly enchanting” production blends familiar fairy tale characters with profound themes of desire, consequence and hope. “Into the Woods begins with characters everyone recognizes, like Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk and Little Red Riding Hood, but Act II gets, as most Sondheim pieces do, much more mature and more personal,” said director Paul Truckey. “Everybody goes into the woods at some point in their life, and this show explores what happens when you do.”
