The Copper Country Pee Wee Basketball league will be starting its 2nd season for youth basketball after a very successful first year. This program was created to help ignite and grow a love for the game of basketball in our area. This year the league will be hosted at Hancock High School and is open to all kids from PreK through 5th grade. Registration is open until August 30th with games beginning on September 7th and will end on October 12th. Copper Shores Outreach & Education is pleased to announce a series of free Narcan training sessions aimed at equipping community members with vital skills to respond to opioid overdoses and save lives. Troopers from the Michigan State Police Calumet Post and five grocery stores in Baraga and Houghton counties will be working together to host “STUFF A BLUE GOOSE” Harvest Gathering charity events. The purpose is to raise hunger awareness and to provide food to local food pantries. Troopers will be at Pat’s Foods in L’Anse & Calumet, to assist in the collection of donated food items and to answer questions regarding the food drive.
