These objects connect local history to the national story while commemorating the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Declaration of Independence. Michigan’s Upper Peninsula has often seemed remote from the rest of the country. However, the themes and movements of U.S. history can be seen here as well, especially since the War of 1812. The Ishpeming Carnegie Public Library (ICPL) is excited to announce that their annual Summer Reading Program is set to begin on June 9th! This year’s summer reading theme is “Unearth A Story.” ICPL’s Summer Reading Program is open to all ages—babies through adults are welcome to participate in the fun! Marquette City Manager Karen Kovacs will hold her next community office hours on Wednesday, June 10 from 10 a.m. to noon in the Shiras Room, on the top level of Peter White Public Library (Front Street side). The first market of the Downtown Marquette Wednesday Night Farmers Market 2026 season is Wednesday, June 10, from 5 PM – 8 PM on the 100 block of W. Washington St. The Wednesday Evening Farmers Market is shutting down the 100 block of W. Washington St. in Downtown Marquette to bring the festive summer experience to the market and to the downtown every Wednesday this summer season. The Street closes at 3 pm and opens again at 9 pm.
