  • NMU Hosts High School Dance Intensive and North Coast Dance Festival

    Northern Michigan University Theatre and Dance will host its Wildcat Performing Arts Academy Summer Dance Intensive for high school intermediate- to advanced-level dancers July 13-27. Participants will attend sessions led by prominent industry professionals from Giordano Dance Chicago, Ballet Project OC of California, a former Broadway touring company member and others. They will also perform alongside the two visiting ensembles and NMU CO/LAB Dance Company during the North Coast Dance Festival, which consists of a masterclass and two public performances. The first week of the summer intensive will feature day-long classes to hone dance skills. Week two will include sessions

  • World Walleye Championship Returns to Gladstone: A Premier Fishing Event with Community Impact

    The City of Gladstone is set to host the Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s Masters Walleye Circuit (MWC) Qualifier on July 18 and 19, marking a significant event for both the local community and competitive fishing enthusiasts. It is organized in partnership with and sponsored by the Delta County Chamber of Commerce, the City of Gladstone, Hannahville Indian Community, the Bays de Noc Sportsfishermen, and Visit Escanaba. The televised catch-and-release fishing tournament is expected to draw professional anglers, media attention, and economic benefits to the area.   • The 2025 Michigan Fresh Fish Fest in Houghton sail aboard the Inland Seas tall ship schooner

    Sail at 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m.: Start the day with a Mi Fresh Fish sail aboard the Inland Seas tall ship schooner.. Sail Lake Superior and experience Mi Fresh Fish through traditional stories and fish identification activities. Cost is $20 per person and seating is limited! Register online.
