Saturdays, March (7, 14, 21, 28), 2026.  11:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.  Peter White Public Library Great Room.  Songs, rhymes, stories and finger-plays geared towards babies through preschool with a loving adult. March 30-April 2 During Negaunee Public Schools’ spring break (the week of March 30-April 2), there will be special activities available for “busting boredom.” There will be a life-size board game in the children’s area, with instructions on each square. Library scavenger hunts for all ages will also be available. These programs are free. Tuesdays, March (3, 10, 17, 24, 31) 2026.  6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.  Peter White Public Library Heritage Room.  Mediate Marquette and PWPL have collaborated to offer a weekly, in-person mindfulness meditation program. The sessions begin at 6:00 pm followed by a period of fellowship. Dr. Debra Smith, a Certified Mindfulness Meditation Teacher and psychologist, will deliver brief talks exploring various aspects of meditation and its impact on our lives. These talks will take place on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays, while longer meditation sessions are scheduled for the remaining Tuesdays. Thursdays: March 19; and April 2, 9, 16 and 19. 1-2 p.m CNAS Fire Site Pavilion The NMU Center for Native American Studies (CNAS) is hosting its Fire Site Storytelling Series on select Thursdays in March and April. These events are free and open to the public. This series features Anishinaabe winter storytelling, oral traditions and community discussion, supported and facilitated by the CNAS director, faculty and staff.  Remaining Fire Site Storytelling events will take place from 1-2 p.m. on the following Thursdays: March 19; and April 2, 9, 16 and 19. Powerful Tools for Caregivers, a six-week online workshop, designed for the non-professional, informal family caregiver, will be held on Thursdays, March 19 through April 23, from 1:30 – 3:00 pm (Eastern) via Zoom. Research studies find high rates of depression and anxiety among caregivers and increased vulnerability to health problems. Caregivers frequently cite restriction of personal activities and social life as problems. In addition, caregivers often feel a lack of control over events and a sense of powerlessness which can have a significant negative impact on their physical and emotional health. Monday, April 6 1 p.m.  In conjunction with Homeschool Hangout, the Negaunee Public Library will hold a graphic novel book club interest meeting at 1 p.m. Monday, April 6. Homeschool and nontraditionally schooled youth (such as online students) ages 10-18 are invited to attend and share ideas, decide meeting dates and times, and choose books for the group to read at this meeting. April 7 5 p.m. As part of the Negaunee Public Library’s “Readers Dozen Book Challenge,” the library is hosting an optional book club for all participants at 5 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. The April meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 7, in the youth area. Participants are welcome to enjoy refreshments, share what they’ve been reading, swap recommendations for the coming month, and connect with fellow readers.
