    Copper Shores Outreach & Education is hosting a free two-day Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) on Monday, October 28 and Tuesday, October 29 at the MUB Alumni Lounge on Michigan Tech’s campus. This two day workshop runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day, teaching people the skills the help prevent suicide, and how to intervene to help keep someone safe from suicide.   Those who partake in ASIST include both trained professionals and members of the general public.   • Zoom – Battles with Invasive Plants

    Three local gardeners will discuss their battles with invasive plants at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 15, before the regular Keweenaw Wild Ones meeting on Zoom. In “Vinca Wars,” Tom Oliver, Danna Olsen and Marcia Goodrich will describe the techniques they use to rid their yards of creeping myrtle, also known as vinca or periwinkle.
