UP Wild in the Keweenaw monthly event. UP Wild Gathering Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. Eagle River Falls (Gather at the Houghton Township Pavilion next to the Eagle River Museum) The UP Wild Gatherings are opportunities to connect with God and each other within our natural world.  Each Gathering has a leader who will guide the participants through readings and reflection.  The Gatherings are appropriate for all ages, including families and children. Everyone is welcome, no religious affiliation is necessary.

The Keweenaw Symphony Orchestra at Michigan Tech is performing the Resurrection Symphony by Gustav Mahler on April 18, 2026, at the Rozsa Center for the Performing Arts. It is the finale of the Rozsa’s 25th anniversary season. The symphony lasts an hour and a half and is the largest choral-orchestral work ever presented in the Upper Peninsula. This will be the first performance of the Resurrection Symphony in the Upper Peninsula, 132 years after its composition. The symphony is massive, with 10 horns, 8 trumpets, 4 trombones, an off-stage brass choir, two harps, organ, large symphonic choir, and soloists. Members

Candlelight Vigil – Community gathering to honor those who have been a victim of crime.   Sunday, April 19th @ 7pm L’Anse Waterfront Park Free – Open to the Public No RSVP Needed   The candles will be lit for the first 24 hours of national Crime Victims’ Rights Week.

Chassell Township Schools Kindergarten Registration   Thursday, April 23rd, from 4:30 pm – 6:00 pm   Children must be five years old on or before September 1st, 2026.  *A waiver is available for children turning five years old on or before December 1st, 2026. Wild Ones Native Garden Giveaway In honor of Houghton’s effort to become the first Bird City in the Upper Peninsula, the Wild Ones Keweenaw Chapter is giving away a limited number of free native plant gardens. Houghton gardeners have an advantage, but all Keweenaw residents are welcome to apply. Winning gardens will be installed in front yards or boulevard strips between the sidewalk and street, so that passersby can appreciate their beauty and value to birds and other wildlife.
