Copper Country Community Band Announces Summer Concert Series The Copper Country Community Band is proud to present a series of five summer concerts across the Keweenaw. Under the direction of Amy Johnson and Micah Erickson, this all-volunteer group of approximately 35 musicians from across the Copper Country will bring audiences a lively mix of marches, classic concert band repertoire, and popular medleys. All concerts begin at 7:00 p.m. – All concerts are free to attend. Donations are gratefully accepted at the other concerts, with the concert on Thursday, August 28 specifically going towards the Houghton County Road Commission, to raise funds
Join us this Saturday, August 30th, from 12:00-3:00 p.m. for the Gay VFD Auxiliary Bazaar and Sales. This is our 1/2 price sale and clothing will be fill a bag for $5 and last chance to bid on the auction items. A Men’s tent sale will also be going on outside. The first Fall meeting of the Michigan Association of School Personnel, Houghton-Keweenaw Chapter (MARSP) will be held on Tuesday, September 2nd at Gino’s in Hancock. Noteworthy Invites New Members Do you love to sing? Want to add some fun and friends to your life? The women’s chorus Noteworthy is welcoming new members. The first rehearsal is at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept.4, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Hancock. This lively barbershop ensemble is known for its intricate harmonies and singable melodies. The group puts on concerts in the spring and during the holidays, collecting donations to benefit local nonprofits. Bingo Bonanza at The Bluffs: third annual fundraiser for Meals on Wheels Community members are invited to the third annual Bingo Bonanza at The Bluffs on Thursday, September 4, 2025 from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Bluffs Senior Community.
