    UP Wild in the Keweenaw would like to announce its upcoming monthly event. Nature Prayer Service Sunday, January 19 at 3:00 pm, Chapel of St. Matthew * The Chapel of St. Matthew is in Hancock, MI on the former campus of Finlandia University. The Nature Prayer Services are opportunities to connect with God, nature, and each other in a relaxed setting. Each service has a leader who will guide the service with prayers, readings, and reflection. Everyone is welcome, no religious affiliation is necessary.

  • Ahmeek Ice Rink Grand Opening

    The Emil Aho Memorial Ice Rink in Ahmeek, commonly known as the Ahmeek Ice Rink, has been a community recreational gathering place for nearly 40 years. The rink will host a Grand Opening Ceremony to celebrate the installation of its new boards, a project made possible by the successful fundraising campaign, “Outdoor Recreation for All – Build the Boards Project.”  The event will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially unveil the newly revitalized rink.   The event will take place on Friday, February 2, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Ahmeek Ice Rink on School Street in Ahmeek, MI.

     For 6 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 23   Winter Sowing 101   Keweenaw Wild Ones invites everyone to Winter Sowing 101, to be held at the Nara Chalet and Interpretive Center in Houghton.   • Houghton – March for Life

    March for Life February 1, 2025 from 12 – 2pm   We will leave from the MTU clock tower at 12 pm and march for the Life Outreach Center in Hancock.  Please arrive early so we can leave on time.   The march will be a peaceful demonstration.  We will have signs available or feel free to make your own sign to bring.  Lunch will be provided at the center after the march and rides back to campus will be offered.  Questions?  contact sflife@mtu.edu
