16th Annual CopperDog Race.   February 27th – March 1st, 2026 The race will start in Calumet, MI on Friday night.  It will run to Eagle Harbor then Copper harbor finishing back in Laurium on Sunday for the first time.  Additional CopperDog events will be held in Laurium on Saturday.   copperdog.org  

Community Blood Drive Friday, February 27, 2026 L’Anse Methodist Church 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Walk-ins welcome! All blood types are needed!

The Big Annie team is bringing back their Warm UP with “Big Annie” fundraiser during CopperDog weekend! Join the fun on Friday, February 27, from 4:00–11:00 PM at Elks Lodge #404 in Calumet. Stop in to warm up with chili or a sloppy joe, browse the silent auction, and enjoy the festivities. The bar opens at 4:00 PM, with live music from 8:30–10:30 PM by the Brewgrass Band.

Copper Dog Events at George Gipp Recreation Area & Arena   Saturday 2/28 9am – 8pm ~ FREE PUBLIC SKATE ALL DAY! 10am – 1pm ~ COPPER PULL 2pm – 4pm ~ COPPER DASH (Kids Event) 5:45p – 8pm ~ COPPER PULL   Sunday 3/1 9am – 8pm ~ FREE PUBLIC SKATE ALL DAY! 9:15a – TBD ~ COPPER PULL 11am – 3:30pm ~ CD120 RACE FINISH   The Gipp Ice Rink will be open to the public on Saturday & Sunday from 9am – 8pm to warm up, use facilities, grab a pasty and SKATE FOR FREE!   Rental

VFW Auxiliary Annual Ice Fishing Tournament Boundaries include Portage Lake and Chassell Bay   Saturday, February 28th, 2026 from 7am until 1pm FREE FOR KIDS – AGES 1 TO 15   FOOD AND PRIZES AWARDED AT 1PM (All Children Must fish to Win a Door Prize!!!!   Registration 3 days before Wednesday- Friday 6pm – Close of day of Saturday from 7am -10am Register in person (no call in) at Chassell VFW, 42103 Wilson Memorial Drive, Chassell Food and Prizes immediately after weigh-in at Chassell VFW   Check out Facebook event for more details on prizes and sponsors.
