    Copper Country Community Band Announces Summer Concert Series The Copper Country Community Band is proud to present a series of five summer concerts across the Keweenaw. Under the direction of Amy Johnson and Micah Erickson, this all-volunteer group of approximately 35 musicians from across the Copper Country will bring audiences a lively mix of marches, classic concert band repertoire, and popular medleys. All concerts begin at 7:00 p.m. – All concerts are free to attend. Donations are gratefully accepted at the concerts.     10th Annual Alston Tractor Races   Saturday, September 6th, 2025 Antique Gas & Diesel Tractors   Fast & Slow Races held on Hoover Road in Alston, MI (next to the ball field) Time Trials start at 10:30am, Races to Follow   Trophies awarded 1st – 3rd Place $25 Entry fee per Tractor Entered.  Every race participant will receive a 10th Anniversary ball cap.     Better Together will meet on Thursday, September 11 at 9:30 at Zion Lutheran Church on Ingot Street in Hancock.   The speaker will be Ginger (Hart) Loosenort and her topic will be “Extreme Makeover…Bible Style.”  Ginger and her husband Kurt have been in campus ministry for 51 years at the University of New York, Northern Michigan University, University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire and for the past 40 years in Grand Rapids. Ginger is a Calumet native, her father was the pastor of the First Baptist Church of Calumet for 25 years,, and the Director of Gitche Gummee Bible Camp

    Lace up your Shoes for the Annual 5K POW/MIA RUN   The community is invited to come together in support of our local veterans at the upcoming Annual Pow/MIA Memorial 5k Run being held at 9am Saturday September 13th at the ROTC Building on the Michigan Tech campus. The Arnold Air Society, a Michigan Tech registered student organization, sponsors this event to honor and remember our nation’s Prisoners of War and those Missing in Action.     Mobile Mammography Unit Returns to  Keweenaw Bay Indian Community on September 15-16, 2025 The Corewell Health Mobile Mammography Unit is returning to support the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community September 15 – 16, 2025. This event is anticipated to screen 96 women in two days.  The mobile mammography unit provides early breast cancer detection services to women ages 40 – 74.  The self-contained mobile screening unit will return to the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community Health System, providing no-cost breast cancer screening to health center clients, local Baraga County community members, and tribal government employees with state-of-the-art 3D mammography screening services.  This
