Noteworthy Invites New Members Do you love to sing? Want to add some fun and friends to your life? The women’s chorus Noteworthy is welcoming new members. The first rehearsal is at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept.4, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Hancock. This lively barbershop ensemble is known for its intricate harmonies and singable melodies. The group puts on concerts in the spring and during the holidays, collecting donations to benefit local nonprofits. Bingo Bonanza at The Bluffs: third annual fundraiser for Meals on Wheels Community members are invited to the third annual Bingo Bonanza at The Bluffs on Thursday, September 4, 2025 from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Bluffs Senior Community. Hosted by Copper Shores Community Health Foundation and The Bluffs Senior Community, proceeds from this fun-filled fundraiser go to support our local Meals on Wheels program. Copper Country Community Band Announces Summer Concert Series The Copper Country Community Band is proud to present a series of five summer concerts across the Keweenaw. Under the direction of Amy Johnson and Micah Erickson, this all-volunteer group of approximately 35 musicians from across the Copper Country will bring audiences a lively mix of marches, classic concert band repertoire, and popular medleys. All concerts begin at 7:00 p.m. – All concerts are free to attend. Donations are gratefully accepted at the concerts. 10th Annual Alston Tractor Races Saturday, September 6th, 2025 Antique Gas & Diesel Tractors Fast & Slow Races held on Hoover Road in Alston, MI (next to the ball field) Time Trials start at 10:30am, Races to Follow Trophies awarded 1st – 3rd Place $25 Entry fee per Tractor Entered. Better Together will meet on Thursday, September 11 at 9:30 at Zion Lutheran Church on Ingot Street in Hancock. The speaker will be Ginger (Hart) Loosenort and her topic will be “Extreme Makeover…Bible Style.” Ginger and her husband Kurt have been in campus ministry for 51 years at the University of New York, Northern Michigan University, University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire and for the past 40 years in Grand Rapids. Lace up your Shoes for the Annual 5K POW/MIA RUN The community is invited to come together in support of our local veterans at the upcoming Annual Pow/MIA Memorial 5k Run being held at 9am Saturday September 13th at the ROTC Building on the Michigan Tech campus. The Arnold Air Society, a Michigan Tech registered student organization, sponsors this event to honor and remember our nation’s Prisoners of War and those Missing in Action.
