• Marquette – Youth Sailing Lessons

    Youth Sailing Lessons Offered this Summer   The Marquette Junior Yacht Club will again offer youth sailing lessons this summer to the public. The program will provide the basic fundamentals of sailing for beginner ages 8-17 and expanded skill training for returning intermediate sailors. Instruction takes place both on and off the water by certified sailing instructors at the Marquette Yacht Club location, E Main Street, Marquette. Students will convene daily at the MJYC boathouse space generously donated by the Marquette Fish Producers.   The 2025 schedule is as follows: July 7 – July 11, July 14 – July 18,

    Negaunee Public Library is hosting a Marvel Entertainment illustrator as part of our “Color Our World” summer reading program. Jerry DeCaire, a Saginaw native, has worked on Deadpool, Thor, Wolverine, and other world-famous superheroes. The event will be from 9:30-11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 14, at the Negaunee Senior Citizens Center.

    Northern Michigan University will present “Juneteenth: Week of Jubilee,” an educational and cultural event series scheduled for June 16-20. The week is dedicated to honoring American history, celebrating the contributions of African American communities, and encouraging civic learning, unity and reflection. Recognized as a federal holiday, Juneteenth commemorates the moment in 1865 when the final enforcement of the Emancipation Proclamation reached Galveston, Texas.
