Eagle Mine to offer Free Public Tours of Facilities CHAMPION, Mich., April 22, 2025—A series of public tours of Eagle Mine facilities will be offered during the summer. Tour locations will alternate between the Eagle Mine in Big Bay and the Humboldt Mill in Champion on Thursdays from July to September. On Thursday, August 7th at 1pm, local artist Emily Weddle will be at the library to lead a class for adults and teens on “Drawing What You See,” featuring observational drawing tips and techniques! All supplies will be provided. Located in the Ray Leverton Community Room.

August 7th at 4pm, the library will be hosting a live reading with writers and artists featured in the ninth edition of the Walloon Writers Review, a literary magazine inspired by the Upper Peninsula and Northern Michigan. This publication is a beautiful collection of poetry, short stories, and nature photography. Artists that will be present are Kate Allore, Milton Bates, Susan Boback, Patty Durell, Lisa Fosmo, Stephen Hooper, Elizabeth Kerlikowske, Ellen Lord, & Elizabeth J. Bates.
