Eagle Mine to offer Free Public Tours of Facilities CHAMPION, Mich., April 22, 2025—A series of public tours of Eagle Mine facilities will be offered during the summer. Families can attend the costume swap on Saturday, September 23 and look for a new-to-you costume! Marquette -Silver Creek Church and Silver Creek Thrift are partnering with Feeding America West Michigan to host a Mobile Food Pantry. Taking place on Thursday, September 11. Food distribution will begin at 10:00am and continue while supplies last or until 11:30am. Food will be available for approximately 550 families. Due to changes with Feeding America West Michigan, proxy pickup will be limited. This will be a drive-thru event with directions given by parking lot attendants. Powerful Tools for Caregivers, a six-week workshop, designed for the non-professional, informal family caregiver, will be held on Thursdays, August 21 – September 25th, 1:00 – 2:30 pm at the Negaunee Senior Center, 410 Jackson Street, Negaunee. Research studies find high rates of depression and anxiety among caregivers and increased vulnerability to health problems. Caregivers frequently cite restriction of personal activities and social life as problems. In addition, caregivers often feel a lack of control over events and a sense of powerlessness which can have a significant negative impact on their physical and emotional health.
