  • Marquette To Host Delegation to from Kajaani, Finland – November 7-13, 2025

    The Marquette Area Sister Cities Partnership in association with the City of Marquette will be hosting a delegation of 8 from Kajaani, Finland, arriving Friday, November 7 and departing Thursday, November 13. The Sister City program with Kajaani, Finland was started in 1997. The program focuses on cultural understanding, international friendship, and sharing of ideas. There will be a presentation by the Kajaani delegation and the Marquette Area Sister City Partnership (MASCP) on Saturday, November 8 from 2-4pm in the Peter White Library Community Room, 217 N Front St. in Marquette.   • DeVos Exhibit Hosts ‘Critters: Representations of Animals in Art from the Permanent Collection’ Exhibit

    The DeVos Art Museum at Northern Michigan University is hosting a new exhibit titled “SAME AS NEVER ” through Dec. 15. Artists Piper Hill, Zerek Kempf and Shori Sims consider time, bodies and architecture as sites of resistance and re-imagination. The exhibit offers an immersive art experience through both physical and digital mediums that aims to provoke, move, amuse, and shake its audience. This exhibition is curated by Snake House VT, an artist-run collaborative based in Vermont that is dedicated to supporting underrepresented artists through exhibitions, performances, screenings and other events and projects.     The Keweenaw is getting a new stage this spring with the debut of Keweenaw’s Got Talent, a community talent showcase and fundraiser set for Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Rachel Marie Blau Memorial Theater inside the Hancock Community Hub. Inspired by the energy of America’s Got Talent, this first-time event will bring together music, dance, comedy, and creative performances from across the region in a wholesome, family-friendly setting.     The Keweenaw National Historical Park Advisory Commission will convene for its regular quarterly meeting at 1:00pm on Tuesday, January 13, 2026. The meeting will be held in-person at the Keweenaw National Historical Park headquarters building at the corner of US41 and Red Jacket Road. The meeting will include an update on the work of the Commission during the last quarter, discussion of the upcoming year’s budget and plans and projects to be undertaken over the next year.   • PWPL Presents: Meditate Marquette

    Tuesdays, January (6, 13, 20, 27) 2026.  6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.  Peter White Public Library Heritage Room.  Mediate Marquette and PWPL have collaborated to offer a weekly, in-person mindfulness meditation program. The sessions begin at 6:00 pm followed by a period of fellowship. Dr. Debra Smith, a Certified Mindfulness Meditation Teacher and psychologist, will deliver brief talks exploring various aspects of meditation and its impact on our lives. These talks will take place on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays, while longer meditation sessions are scheduled for the remaining Tuesdays.
