  • The NMU Orchestra

    NMU Reynolds Recital Hall Marquette, Michigan

    April 22 7:30 p.m. Reynolds Recital Hall The NMU Orchestra will perform at 7:30 p.m. April 22 in Reynolds Recital Hall under the direction of Barbara Rhyneer. This performance features works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Giovanni Gabrieli, Jean Sibelius, Antonín Dvořák and Eric Whitacre. A chamber ensemble will open the concert with selections from two Mozart quintets and a canzon by Gabrieli. The full orchestra will perform Sibelius’ “Finlandia” and “Andante Festivo,” the final movement of Dvořák’s “New World” Symphony, and Whitacre’s “Goodnight Moon,” featuring vocal faculty member Keri Lee Pierson as a soloist.   • PWPL Presents: Memory Lab – Session I: Introduction April 23

    Peter White Public Library 217 N Front Street, Marquette, MI

    Learn how to use the PWPL Memory Lab, a hands-on digital preservation station located on the second floor of the building. Preserve your precious memories by digitizing old slides, photographs, VHS tapes and BetaMax. Bring a sample item to digitize along with a thumb drive. Thumb drives are available for purchase at the circulation desk for $5. Pencils and paper will be provided to take notes.

  • PSA – Powerful Tools for Caregivers Workshop

    Powerful Tools for Caregivers, a six-week online workshop, designed for the non-professional, informal family caregiver, will be held on Thursdays, March 19 through April 23, from 1:30 – 3:00 pm (Eastern) via Zoom. Research studies find high rates of depression and anxiety among caregivers and increased vulnerability to health problems. Caregivers frequently cite restriction of personal activities and social life as problems. In addition, caregivers often feel a lack of control over events and a sense of powerlessness which can have a significant negative impact on their physical and emotional health.
