    Copper Country Community Band Announces Summer Concert Series The Copper Country Community Band is proud to present a series of five summer concerts across the Keweenaw. Under the direction of Amy Johnson and Micah Erickson, this all-volunteer group of approximately 35 musicians from across the Copper Country will bring audiences a lively mix of marches, classic concert band repertoire, and popular medleys. Donations are gratefully accepted at the other concerts, with the concert on Thursday, August 28 specifically going towards the Houghton County Road Commission, to raise funds

      The Marquette Trail 50 is an ultramarathon (a foot race with distances beyond the marathon distance of 26.2 miles) along some of Marquette’s most scenic and pristine trails. The Marquette Trail 50 consists of a 50-kilometer and 50-mile event held on Saturday and a 5K and kids mile on Friday.     August abounds with outdoor summer fun The DNR offers a variety of ways to enjoy Michigan’s natural and cultural resources next month, so get ready to soak up some summer fun! Free ORV Weekend   Residents and out-of-state visitors legally can ride Michigan’s 4,000 miles of off-road vehicle trails and routes and the state’s six scramble areas on two back-to-back days (Aug. 16-17) without an ORV license or trail permit.   • Backpack SOS (Support Our Students)

    Marquette – Backpack SOS (Support Our Students) will take place on Saturday, August 16 at Silver Creek Church. Starting at 9AM and going until 11AM, this drive-thru event requires no pre-registration. School-aged children (preschool through 12th grade) will receive backpacks, school supplies, a toothbrush, & clothing vouchers for Silver Creek Thrift. Families are asked to stay in their vehicles and follow the directions of the parking lot team.     Now in its seventh year, Classic Cars on Third Street is a community event presented by the Marquette Downtown Development Authority in partnership with the Women’s Center of Marquette County. The show runs on North Third Street, from Ohio Street to Park Street. Street closures will run from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
