Wednesday, August 5, 2026. 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.  Peter White Public Library Peter White Conference Room.  This Book Group welcomes readers interested in a variety of contemporary fiction on the first Wednesday of the month at 10 AM. Book discussions will be led by Reference Desk staff. Book selection for July will be SWIMMING IN THE DARK by Tomasz Jedrowski. Enjoy a tour through town in an air-conditioned Checker bus. Sit back and relax, meet a few entertaining historic characters, and learn from the tour guide along the route. Each summer the tours include something new, and delight locals and tourists as well. 90-minute tour departs from and returns to the MRHC. Tickets are $25, and on sale now! Tuesdays & Thursdays August (4, 6, 11, 13, 18, 20, 25, 27), 2026. 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.  Peter White Public Library Lower Level Lobby.  PWPL is once again partnering with Feeding America West Michigan in the Gather2Grow summer meals program and will serve as a pickup site for shelf stable meals. Tuesdays, August (4, 11, 18, 25) 2026. 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Fridays, August (7, 14, 21, 28) 2026. Noon – 1:00 p.m. Peter White Public Library Heritage Room. Mediate Marquette and PWPL have collaborated to offer two weekly, in-person mindfulness meditation programs. 401 East Fair Ave, Marquette, MI 49855   Dates: August 8, 2026 – August 9, 2026   The Ore to Shore (O2S) is the third largest point-to-point race in the Midwest, with riders gearing up at the start line in Negaunee, where in 1844 iron ore was first discovered in the Superior region. The long distance course travels through Ishpeming, past towering head frames from the heyday of underground mining, and then heads north into the beautiful wooded wilderness, crossing or running along side of the Dead River all the way into Marquette to the Lake Superior shoreline.   O2S
