Bingo Bonanza at The Bluffs: third annual fundraiser for Meals on Wheels Community members are invited to the third annual Bingo Bonanza at The Bluffs on Thursday, September 4, 2025 from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Bluffs Senior Community. Hosted by Copper Shores Community Health Foundation and The Bluffs Senior Community, proceeds from this fun-filled fundraiser go to support our local Meals on Wheels program. Attendees can play all night for $15 or purchase additional cards between rounds for even more gameplay. The group puts on concerts in the spring and during the holidays, collecting donations to benefit local nonprofits. Mobile Mammography Unit Returns to Keweenaw Bay Indian Community on September 15-16, 2025 The Corewell Health Mobile Mammography Unit is returning to support the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community September 15 – 16, 2025. This event is anticipated to screen 96 women in two days. The mobile mammography unit provides early breast cancer detection services to women ages 40 – 74. The self-contained mobile screening unit will return to the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community Health System, providing no-cost breast cancer screening to health center clients, local Baraga County community members, and tribal government employees with state-of-the-art 3D mammography screening services. The Keweenaw Lions Club is now selling tickets for their Lake Superior Cruise fundraiser aboard the Isle Royale Queen IV. Limited tickets are $30 each and are already selling quickly. Cruise will depart from the Isle Royale Queen Dock in Copper Harbor, Sunday September 21. The two hour tour will begin boarding at 1:30pm with a 2:00pm departure. Destination is weather dependent. Canal Colors Fest Marks the Keweenaw’s Next Big Seasonal Event Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula will debut a brand-new fall celebration this October with the launch of the Canal Colors Festival, set for Friday, Oct. 3 and Saturday, Oct. 4, 2025, in downtown Houghton. Parked along the Portage Canal beneath the iconic lift bridge, the Canal Colors Festival celebrates the exact spot where Upper Peninsula fall colors first turn. With steep hills rising on both sides of the canal, the season shows off twice — once in the trees, and again in their reflections across the water. The two-day event combines some of the Keweenaw’s favorite Friday, October 3 — Brew Street & Plaidurday Brew Street kicks off at 6 p.m. on Lakeshore Drive behind the Keweenaw Brewing Company (KBC). Guests can enjoy cold pours from KBC, food trucks, and live music from Toni Saari, The Make Believe Spurs, and Bob Hiltunen. Social district cups will be available, with $1 from each sale donated to the Carnegie Museum of the Keweenaw to preserve local history. At 7 p.m., Brew Street also hosts this year’s official Plaidurday group photo, moving the tradition downtown for the first time. Saturday, October 4 — Color Run & Fall Festival The Keweenaw Color Run returns at 9:30 a.m. with a family-friendly, untimed 5K through downtown Houghton. Participants are showered with colorful powders along the course and receive their own color packet at the start. The run is open to all ages — no times, no winners, just fun.
