City of Houghton Invites Community to Branding Working Sessions   The City of Houghton invites residents and stakeholders to participate in one of two public working sessions dedicated to shaping the future of Houghton’s community brand. The Lake Linden-Hubbell Public School will hold their annual Fall Parent/Teacher Conferences on Thursday, November 6, 2025. All students will be dismissed at 11:44 am. Hot lunch will not be served, but breakfast will be. Conferences for students in grades 6-12 are from 12:30 – 3:30 pm. and from 4:30 – 6:30 pm. Report cards may be picked up in the principal’s office located on the second floor of the high school. No appointment is needed for conferences for students in grades 6-12. Elementary conferences are made by appointment.

Keweenaw Unitarian Universalist Fellowship will present a public forum online titled “What Is Ranked-Choice Voting & the Michigan Rank MI Vote Ballot Proposal?” from 10:30-11:30 AM on Sunday, November 9. The speaker will be Lisa Nelson, a Copper Country League of Women Voters member and a member of the UP Rank MI Vote team. She will explain ranked-choice voting, a system which gives voters more choices and power by allowing voters to rank candidates in order of preference. The Chassell Post 6507 VFW and Auxiliary will be hosting a blood drive on Tuesday, November 11, from 2pm-6pm. Appointments are available by calling 906-449-1450, but walk-ins are welcome. All blood donated through the UP Regional Blood Center stays in the Upper Peninsula and helps patients in need at one of the 12 Upper Peninsula hospitals. One donation can save up to 3 lives, and there is an urgent need for all blood types. All donors will be entered into a drawing to win $50 in Keweenaw Cash that can be used at any of the Keweenaw Chamber of Commerce

Better Together will meet on Thursday, November 13 at 9:30 at the Zion Lutheran Church on 400 Ingot Street in Hancock. The speakers will be Marlain, Jonathan and Felix Birdi, missionaries to India.  Their presentation will be “How lives are changed through Jesus.”  Special music will be provided by recording artist Yvonne Blake from Ontonagon.
