The first Fall meeting of the Michigan Association of School Personnel, (MARSP) Houghton-Keweenaw Chapter will be held on Wednesday, September 9th at 12:30 pm at the Bluffs in Houghton. The business meeting will begin at 12:30 pm followed by a buffet lunch.  The guest speaker is Anthony Schwass, directoe of the Gogebic Community College Houghton campus.  All members are encouraged to attend.    Contact person – Steven Karpiak, 906-482-8455.

Better Together will meet on Thursday, September 10 at 9:30 at Zion Lutheran Church at 400 Ingot Street in Hancock.  The speaker will be Maura Leinonen and her topic will be, “Joyfully Following Jesus.”  Special music will be provided by Kristin Kytta of Chassell.  All area women are invited to attend this fun and inspiring event. A brunch will be served and there is a suggested donation of $10.  All proceeds over the cost of the event will be donated to local charities. The community is invited to come together for the 10th annual Suicide Prevention Walk on Saturday, September 12, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Ray Kestner Waterfront Park in Houghton. The walk aims to raise awareness about local suicide prevention, reduce stigma surrounding mental health and show those who are struggling that they are not alone.   Over the past decade, the walk has grown into a meaningful opportunity for community members to connect, honor loved ones and support one another. This year, local students chosen for their leadership in supporting youth mental health through the CCISD’s Green Bandana Project,
