    Eagle Mine to offer Free Public Tours of Facilities CHAMPION, Mich., April 22, 2025—A series of public tours of Eagle Mine facilities will be offered during the summer. Tour locations will alternate between the Eagle Mine in Big Bay and the Humboldt Mill in Champion on Thursdays from July to September. Tours of the Eagle Mine will be offered on the following dates from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.: June 19, July 10, July 24, August 7, August 21, September 4, and September 18.   • Marquette Regional History Center presents: Teal Lake Hike

    Join historian and author Jim Paquette on a visit to the camp sites of Negaunee’s very first miners, the ancient people who once quarried the local Ajibik quartzite deposits on the northeast end of the lake thousands of years ago. We will follow the timeworn footpath along the north lakeshore. It will be approximately a two-mile hike on uneven terrain and hills and is considered a moderate to difficult hike.  Pre-registration is required.   • Powerful Tools for Caregivers Workshop

    Powerful Tools for Caregivers, a six-week workshop, designed for the non-professional, informal family caregiver, will be held on Thursdays, August 21 – September 25th, 1:00 – 2:30 pm at the Negaunee Senior Center, 410 Jackson Street, Negaunee. Research studies find high rates of depression and anxiety among caregivers and increased vulnerability to health problems. Caregivers frequently cite restriction of personal activities and social life as problems. In addition, caregivers often feel a lack of control over events and a sense of powerlessness which can have a significant negative impact on their physical and emotional health.
