    The Keweenaw is getting a new stage this spring with the debut of Keweenaw’s Got Talent, a community talent showcase and fundraiser set for Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Rachel Marie Blau Memorial Theater inside the Hancock Community Hub. Inspired by the energy of America’s Got Talent, this first-time event will bring together music, dance, comedy, and creative performances from across the region in a wholesome, family-friendly setting.   • Beaumier Center Hosts Opening Reception in New Gallery

    Northern Michigan University’s Beaumier U.P. Heritage Center will unveil two exhibits in its new gallery space in 223 Harden Hall: “The Conservationists: George Shiras III, Theodore Roosevelt and the Migratory Bird Act”; and a permanent display of artifacts, photographs and stories about NMU. The opening reception begins at noon Saturday, Jan. 31. “The Conservationists” focuses on the relationship between Shiras and Roosevelt and how the two helped shape conservation and environmental policy in the United States during the early 1900s.     Copper Shores Community Health Foundation is hosting Safe Sitter Essentials with CPR on February 21 and 22, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Gogebic-Ontonagon Intermediate School District CTE Training Center in Ontonagon. This two-day training is offered at no cost, including lunch each day and is open to all Copper Country students in sixth through eighth grade.   “It’s not just about babysitting; it’s about being trusted, learning independence and gaining skills you can use in everyday life,” said Heather Johnson, Safe Sitter instructor. “Taking this course is a great way for young people to learn the skills and confidence needed
