Northern Michigan University Theatre and Dance will host its annual Wildcat Theatre Follies Thursday-Saturday, Sept. 4-6, in the Panowski Black Box Theatre. The event will showcase a variety of creative performances by freshmen and sophomores in the program, including songs, scenes, monologues and dance pieces. The show will take place at 7:30 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, with an additional 1 p.m. Theater for All sensory-friendly matinee on Saturday. “This is great way to introduce students to the community and their colleagues right away and hit the ground running so they are prepared for the rest of the season and understand how rehearsals work
Powerful Tools for Caregivers, a six-week workshop, designed for the non-professional, informal family caregiver, will be held on Thursdays, August 21 – September 25th, 1:00 – 2:30 pm at the Negaunee Senior Center, 410 Jackson Street, Negaunee. Research studies find high rates of depression and anxiety among caregivers and increased vulnerability to health problems. Caregivers frequently cite restriction of personal activities and social life as problems. In addition, caregivers often feel a lack of control over events and a sense of powerlessness which can have a significant negative impact on their physical and emotional health. Noteworthy Invites New Members Do you love to sing? Want to add some fun and friends to your life? The women’s chorus Noteworthy is welcoming new members. The first rehearsal is at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept.4, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Hancock. This lively barbershop ensemble is known for its intricate harmonies and singable melodies. The group puts on concerts in the spring and during the holidays, collecting donations to benefit local nonprofits. Bingo Bonanza at The Bluffs: third annual fundraiser for Meals on Wheels Community members are invited to the third annual Bingo Bonanza at The Bluffs on Thursday, September 4, 2025 from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Bluffs Senior Community. Copper Country Community Band Announces Summer Concert Series The Copper Country Community Band is proud to present a series of five summer concerts across the Keweenaw. Under the direction of Amy Johnson and Micah Erickson, this all-volunteer group of approximately 35 musicians from across the Copper Country will bring audiences a lively mix of marches, classic concert band repertoire, and popular medleys. Northern Michigan University will open the 2025-2026 Siril Concert Series with Deux Saisons (French for “two seasons”), a duo featuring soprano Keri Lee Pierson and classical guitarist Christopher Schoelen, who perform a wide musical repertoire ranging from the Renaissance through the present day. The concert will take place at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5, in Reynolds Recital Hall. Tickets are $12 for general admission and free for NMU students and those under 18.
