Northern Michigan University Theatre and Dance will present Into the Woods, a fantasy musical by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine, Sept 25-27 and Oct 2-4. This “darkly enchanting” production blends familiar fairy tale characters with profound themes of desire, consequence and hope. “Into the Woods begins with characters everyone recognizes, like Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk and Little Red Riding Hood, but Act II gets, as most Sondheim pieces do, much more mature and more personal,” said director Paul Truckey. “Everybody goes into the woods at some point in their life, and this show explores what happens when you do.”

 MUNISING, Mich.- Sand Point Road will be temporarily closed to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic east of the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore boundary from approximately Oct. 2 through Oct. 8, 2025, for a culvert replacement project. The closure may extend through Oct. 10 if additional time is needed to complete the work. A Public Candidate Forum will be held Thursday, October 2nd for candidates running for the Marquette Board of Light and Power and the Marquette City Commission. The League of Women Voters of Marquette County will moderate the Forum and present proposed ballot measures for Michigan’s 2026 election.
